The 12 Braids of Christmas, The 1st Day of Christmas

Hello loves, for the holidays I decided to document 12 of my favorite braids & up do styles and teach you how to re-create them. Today is Day One of the "12 Braids of Christmas". All of these looks are styles I have created and come up with myself and some are a bit on the messy/funky side. Sometimes I get burned out of the usual so I am trying to switch it up a little bit. Color Forumla

So, this is a post for hairdressers! I get a lot of people asking me "how to" questions, especially when it comes to hair painting. So I am going to start posting a weekly formula from the salon, let me know what you guys think?

This was a client of mine who I took from virgin hair into an ombre about a year ago. This was my first time touching up her blonde since then, awesome right? Of course, I have been hitting her roots about every two months and maybe a little toning here and there. I love hair painting because even though it is a TON of work the first time, it truly is such a low maintenance color. For the client it is very expensive the first time but after one-two times it because a low-budget color that looks expensive. 

I used half 5.6 and half 4.6 (which is chocolate brown) and the color line is Schwarzkopf
In the past I have used a red brown and gold brown so she has lovely tones still peaking through, which I liked so I only touched up her root.

Then I painted her ends and middle of her hair using  Blondme Premium Lift with 20 vol.
I didn't need to use two different developers to get two different blonde tones because her ends were already blonde from our first ombre. Then I toned with 8n Shades EQ from Redken.
The trick with hair painting it to create points. So all of my sections smaller or larger have 1-3 points, sort of like mountain peaks...

The result is...Ooh La La!

Fashion Friday Beach Waves Tutorial

Well hello, Happy Friday! I am sharing this one with you from inside of my tiny Volkswagon Rabbit...I am crammed in the car because the rest of the car is stuffed with Ikea boxes (ahhhhhhh) and I am in the front seat blogging away. Anyways this is one of my "go-to" looks and it really works great with any type of hair! Thin, thick, short and long hair. So enjoy!

This time I am sharing with you one of my favorite ways to curl my own hair. This is really easy but there are just a couple Important steps that really make this a "beachy curl". I promise that anyone can do this. Here we go...

1. Grab your section of hair & start your curl at the very top. Begin by curling away from your face.

2. Losen your grip on the iron and roll out to about the middle of the section of hair and roll back in (the ends will be hanging out).

3. Repeat step 2 til you are almost to the end of the hair section. Typically 1-2 two more times is about right for medium-to long hair. (I like to leave the ends uncurled on some sections to give a "beachy" effect).

4. Untwist the curl without unclamping your iron, when completely untwisted then unclamp. You will be twisting your hand/wrist in a circle motion. (This one is IMPORTANT!)

5. Repeat this throughout the entire head. In the front sections I typically curl all the hair away from my face and start to rotate the directions once behind my ears. 

6. Once you have curled all your hair and all the curls have cooled, go ahead and hair spray all of your hair. Then run your fingers through your hair as if you were "cat clawing" your curls. This will loosen your curls and marry them together in a very natural way. Then spray again.  

7. Take a picture and tag me on  because it will totally make my day, more like week! @beautybyelizabethfaye #BFLbeachwaves

1. A curling Iron with a clamp. I prefer to do these curls with any curling iron in between the sizes of a  1 inch and up to a  1  3/4th inch.  A smaller iron gives a really pretty "dread like" wave if you leave the ends out a little bit and take smaller sections. On the other hand a bigger iron creates a beautiful loose wave. Just play around and see what you prefer. I personally prefer a smaller iron because the curls will drop when you run your hands through them and because my hair doesn’t hold a curl well. Plus I really really love the look of smaller sections and a smaller iron too! 

2. Hairspray or a texture spray. Texture spray is a great way to dirty this wave up. Makes your hair feel a little bit gritty but really gives your a hair the perfect amount of mess. I often will spray texture spray on my curls after I am done, then scrounge my hair. 

These are some great examples of what these curls can look like. 

All of theses are done with an Iron between the size of 1 inch and 1 3/4th inch.

Lala Forth of July Lips

Red lips for the forth of july? well, of course!

i wanted to share with you, one of my favorite red lips as of late. "lala" lips as i call them, can be achieved by using Mirabella Velvet lip pencil. They have two shades of red but the "love" shade is a perfect summer red.

THESE LIP PENCIL'S ARE 23$ AND THE COLOR LAST ALL DAY! THE ONLY POINTER I WOULD GIVE IS TO BUY A PENCIL SHARPENER LARGER ENOUGH.

Hello world, I'm Elizabeth Faye!

      Hello world, I'm Elizabeth Faye!

This is my first official post on my new blog (eeeeeeee), so I am going to give a little background on me. So, I am actually Elizabeth Manuele, my middle name is Faye but I have gone by Elizabeth Faye for my business for years. I like to pretend that I am awesome enough to have a stage name.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am a wife, a mother, a hairdresser, a business woman and now a blogger. Oh, and I live in Saint George Utah. Yes, starting a blog is a very stereotypical thing for me to do. I also wear maxi skirts and wear cardigans occasionally, shoot me!

I have a really weird life story that I will spare you the details of, but basically I was a really bad child and got sent away. Boys, trouble, drugs, trouble, blah blah. Dropped out of high school to be mentored at an awesome, fancy salon called Kelly Cardenas Salon (at 16) in Las Vegas and then went to school to be a hairdresser. I had a lot of opportunity with that company. Performed doing hair everywhere, told my story on stage as inspiration to other hair students, traveled to Germany to do hair, worked on a snoop dog video and lots of other awesome stuff. Basically my heart wasn't in it in the end. I wanted kids, a husband, a garden and a mortgage. So bam, bam, bam! Really though, it happened about that fast. So at the time I parted ways with that company I was in Chicago working and I left and moved to good ol Saint George, Utah to live in my best friend's bed and figure out what the hell to do with myself.

I did pretty good for being a crazy eighteen year old with a lot of insane ideas floating around my stupid little eighteen year old head. Basically , I had a lot of fun, built a cliental out of thin air, I became a teacher at the local hair school and learned how to work for myself. This is where I learned that I had a entrepreneur side of me, a side of me that I loved and that I loved so much my ideas kept me up at night with excitement.

The greatest thing that came of all this was my full conversion to the LDS church. This changed my life forever. I am forever thankful for all the people who came in and out of my life at this time-they led me to where I am today.


All these things led to meeting me husband. We met and four months later got engaged and four months later got married in the Saint George temple. We know we are crazy, but crazy happy right, so who cares! Then (apparently four is my lucky number) ...four months later I found out I was pregnant. So, it has been a crazy ride but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I now work for myself and rock it out only behind the chair and my husband is going to be a fire-fighter and planning on doing the family business- vacuum and sewing machine store (glamorous, I know). The store is super mom and pop style and he loves it.  So we are just figuring out our lives, and raising our hilarious son and trying to soak up every moment.

If my heart could be captured in pictures, I am pretty sure it looks like that.
